Help

There are 3 types of results:

Websites: Sherlock scans the internet for potential trademark infringement and displays the relevant websites, documents, images and e-commerce stores (PROFESSIONAL / PREMIUM only) here, which helps you in the detection of counterfeit products over the internet.

Domains: Sherlock checks if your trademark’s name is registered as a domain name under generic top level domains (such as .com etc.). national top level domains (such as .cn, .ru etc.). Sherlock also checks domains under the new gTLDs (such as .shop .sport etc. | extended library of gTLDs available for PROFESSIONAL / PREMIUM users). Including websites under new gTLDs in your search is important because other forums do not monitor these, and these websites hold even higher risk of potential infringement.

Trademarks: Sherlock monitors if there are any recent trademark applications that are identical (or similar – PREMIUM) to yours. It also indicates whether a trademark is open for opposition and if it is, you can start the opposition process either with Trademark.eu's opposition wizard or by contacting us with a few clicks.

Please note that:

  • At the moment, Sherlock displays the most recent trademarks that are registered either in the EU member states, in the USA or some other countries.
  • Upon searching non-latin websites, Sherlock uses the non-latin translation of your trademark and keywords. It might occur that upon visiting a website displayed in the results, the relevant phrases will be in non-Latin characters.
  • It may be possible that a certain result is displayed because the stored version of the webpage contained relevant phrases but the content of the website has been changed since then.
